Foulsham itself is an attractive village with several handsome 16th and 17th century houses. It has a good shop and a friendly pub. The impressive church is very close to Ivy House. Walks through unspoilt countryside start almost from the front door.

A short drive will take you to some of Norfolk’s favourite market towns such as Dereham, Fakenham, Holt and Aylsham. Weekly auctions are held at Aylsham and Fakenham and monthly farmer’s markets take place at Fakenham and Dereham.

For nature lovers we are just two miles from the largest remaining ancient woodland in Norfolk, Foxley wood. Just six miles away is the Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park, a very accessible nature reserve set amongst the lakes and wetlands of the River Wensum valley. Here, as well as the reserve, there are gardens and activities for children such as pond-dipping. On the coast are the well-known reserves of Blakeney and Cley and inland, the waterways of the Norfolk Broads offer a unique blend of nature and leisure activities.

There are some outstanding National Trust properties within easy reach of Foulsham such as Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park.

Family attractions include The Animal Ark and The Dinosaur Park at Lenwade, and The Thursford Collection. The Bure Valley Railway is a narrow gauge steam railway with a station at nearby Aylsham. Taking a train ride to Wroxham, where boats may be hired is a lovely way to access the broads and take in miles of unspoilt countryside on the way.

Foulsham is perfectly positioned for those wanting to visit any part of the diverse North Norfolk coast. Within easy reach are miles of golden sand, the red cliffs of Hunstanton, the salt marshes of Stiffkey and the seaside towns of Sheringham and Cromer. The Norfolk Coast path national trail makes exploring the coast on foot easy.

The fine, historic city of Norwich offers many attractions and amenities such as The Forum, cathedral, castle museum and good shopping. There is a park and ride facility this side of the city close to Norwich International Airport.
